Rev. Inkoo Chung has served Huntington UMC as the Lead Pastor since 2012. Pastor Chung grew up in the Methodist church. His grandfather and father both served the Methodist church. When he was fourteen years old, his family moved to Argentina where his father was called to work as a missionary.
Pastor Chung studied Business Administration at UADE (Universidad Argentina De La Empresa) in Argentina. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Divinity Degree from the Theological School of ISEDET in Argentina. He also received a Master of Divinity Degree from Drew University in New Jersey in 2003. Currently, he is working on a Doctor of Ministry (Area of Concentration: “Congregational growth and Community Development") at Drew University.
Pastor Chung has served several churches in NY Annual Conference since 2005 --First UMC in Flushing, NY; North Canton Community UMC, CT; UMC of Patchogue, NY; Ossining UMC and Peekskill UMC, NY.
Pastor Chung had served as a member of The Conference Committee on Parish Development, COMPASS Planning Team, The Commission on Religion & Race, General Secretary & Vice President of the Korean Caucus and LW District Committee on Ordained Ministry. Currently, Pastor Chung is serving as a member of the Committee on Nomination at NYAC, CT District Committee on Ordained Ministry, Connectional Ministry Vision Table, a leader of CT District Parish Ministry and a chair of Cross-racial and cross-cultural Korean pastors’ group.
Sharing the message of hope and faith, he shapes his vision for his ministerial work and life with his favorite bible verse, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Pastor Chung is married to MyungJin and has a son, Minho whose name means “Hope of people”.
